Wow where does the time go. Here I am writing a summary of the last show season and the next is not far of starting. Had a good show season with Nolan - he finished the season as the NZCHA Hi Point 4 Year old Champion and NZCHA Derby Champion. Peptos Do Rock was the NZCHA Hi Point Stallion. It was a sad winter as we lost "Crinkle" our Docs Durack mare. Tessa has produced a colt foal by PDR. As I write this PDR is with two mares both with foals at foot. One is Tessa and her colt foal. Richard Cowdrey has brought Dulces Galaxy ( Instant Dulce x Freckles Starsign) who has a Duroak colt foal at foot. We have 2 more mares to go in this week. Warbelle is back and also Stop (Colonel Pep x Brackenmoore Miss by Moore 8) both owned by Kim Pearson.
Indy aka little Nugget is our 2016 Futurity horse and she is back in work and Nolan aka all fyred Up has his first show in December.

Winter is over yay even though it was a very good winter. Spring has seen 3 PDR foals on the ground. We have a filly out of Duracks Reflection, Jacob and Olivia have a colt out of Jay Di and Kim has a filly out of Warbelle. It is frustrating having to wait so long to see how well his progeny will perform but we are getting their as one of the oldest Bar Bees Pearl is now broken in and just gone to her other part owner James Hazeldine. Both Crinkle (Duracks reflection) and Contessa (Duracks Contessa) are vetted in foal to PDR. He still has 2 mares running with him.One is Sweep but as she is a maiden mare her age is proving difficult to breed, the other is Steve and Julies mare . We have had a lot of interest in using him as a sire but as we only paddock serve this has stopped some mares coming. Sadly we have sold Spanner Man, it is always hard to say goodbye to a horse you have bred, trained and competed on but happily he will be still in the cutting pen. First show is only weeks away so can't wait to see Nolan(All Fyred Up) back in action.
Taking a break from booking flights to the Australian Futurity. Colin is leaving a week before to go mustering with Barry Ladd on a Queensland cattle station. Thank you Tony & Toni Rogers for this exciting opportunity. Thank you to Barry Ladd for your quote of the year -"never sell or geld Peptos Do Rock". thank you to Grant Mackie after judging PDR in his first run for the season at the North Island Finals "that is the best run I have seen all year" yes we re pretty proud of PDR. Brought back into work after running with mares, went into the herd 6 times and never unplaced. Spanner Man had a great show season and has added to his list of achievements. Our futurity horse All Fyred Up (Nolan) was a litttle disappointing but that is the cutting game. It would of been awesome for the memory of our friend Nolan Fyers to win the Futurity with this horse but it was not to be. As I write this Colin is "breaking in" his 2016 Futurity prospect by Kings Playboy out of Duracks Reflection (Spanner Mans full sister) and weaning our first PDR filly "Pirate". Watch this space for what happens. Show horses are turned out for the winter months, see you all in the spring.
oops forgot to add that we have purchased in partnership with James Hazeldine PDR's first foal from Harold & Maria Morrissey. Bar Bees Pearl is a palomino filly out of Hollywood Bar Bee and a prospect for the 2016 Futurity. November - all PDR's foals are here. We had a filly out of Duracks Contessa bit of a surprise there as she was carrying twins but the other filly died. Cowdreys got a colt out of Smart Spin but sadly Warbelles foal died. Now PDR is with our three mares Dulux, Sweep and Crinkle with 2 out side mares arriving . Futurity horse is progressing nicely and Spanner is back in work for the first show in December.
Sitting listening to the rain on the roof, waiting for the Antarctic blast to hit the North Island. Had a good season with the horses. Durabar with help from Pepto took Colin to the NZCHA Open Non Pro Champion. He is now for sale as we make way for the younger horses. Pepto showed well all season but his highlight was winning the Open Horse at the Futurity Show with a score of 74 from Australian judge Craig Emerton. Spanner Man was the Non Pro Futurity Champion and Reserve Open Futurity Champion. All our show horses are turned out for the winter and the 2 year olds All Fyred Up (Nolan) and Durawhiz (Barry) are back in work when the weather allows. Can't wait for the spring when our first Pepto foal is born along with the two outside mares.
We have been to the first show of the new season. Took Durabar who won the Open Non Pro & placed in the Open Horse. Spanner Man went along for the ride and do some training after the show. He is coming along nicely with the Futurity in May 2013 at Hawera. Pepto has finished his season and is about to go back into work ready for the first show in January. Busy time on the farm, hoping the weather stays good so we can get our sheep shorn before xmas, so the horses are having a bit of a holiday. Barry aka Durawhizz is about to be turned out and our other 2 year old Nolan aka All Fyred Up will come back into work. Peptos Do Rock has his first foal on the ground. Owned by Harold & Maria Morrissey of Taumarunui this filly foal is out of Hollywood Bar Bee (Badgers Cutta Bar x Ranui Bee Bee 8 by Mr Moore 8 (Imp)) November Peptos Do Rock is with his mares Duracks Contessa, Warbelle and Dulux. Hoping to get the breeding season done so Pepto is ready for the shows in the new year. The 2011-2012 show season finished with the National Finals at our place in Te Kuiti. Durabar took Colin to the Open Non Pro Hi Point Reserve Champion. Peptos Do Rock had a good show season and we are very pleased with his progress.
The 2012 NZCHA Futurity show in Hawera was the start of our new show season. Peptos Do Rock placed fourth in the Open Derby won by Playboys Quest ridden byHarold Morrissey and third in the Non Pro Derby won by Belles Destiny ridden by Steve Gregory. Peptos Do Rock finished the show third in the Open Horse scoring 146, not bad for the only 4 year old in the event.. Durabar won the Open Non Pro with a score of 147. Congratulations to Clint McCallum on winning the Futurity with Kings Freck n Oak. Taurimu Farm sponsored the inaugural Classic for 5 & 6 year horses won by Sonitas Durack (full sister to Durabar) ridden by James Hazeldine and owned by Mario Flego with a score of 149.5. She also tied with Moonshine for first in the Open Horse on a 147.
